Game 4

Vanderbilt vs. Cal State Fullerton

OMAHA, Nebraska-- A 2-day affair, because of rain, sunk the Cal State Fullerton Titans to the losers bracket after a brilliant start by RHP Thomas Eshelman. It seemed Eshelman had the Commodore's right where the Titans wanted. A lightning delay, followed by a rain delay gave Vanderbilt a second wind. Carson Fulmer was the workhorse for Vanderbilt on Sunday getting his pitch count up to 105 before the game was suspended. Fulmer recorded 7 K's and threw strikes at a 62.9% clip. John Kilichowski was handed the ball on Monday throwing 2 1/3 of the remaining innings and recored 1 strikeout while giving up a hit and a walk through 30 pitches. Kyle Wright ended up with the win throwing the final 2/3 of the 9th.

Game 8

TCU vs. Vanderbilt

OMAHA, Nebraska--  Tuesday night held 2 of the best pitching performances thus far in the 2015 CWS with Vanderbilt’s Philip Pfeifer getting the win over TCU’s Alex Young. There was a record tying 25 K’s in the contest and scoring opportunities gone awry throughout the game. Much due to the phenomenal pitch location from both sides. One mistake, on Young's 75th pitch of the game, a ball up in the zone traveled off of Zander Weil's bat over the left field wall, making that pitch and that hit the difference maker in the score of the contest. The win by the Commodores puts them 1 game away from the Championship Series, coming from Bracket 2.

The Horned Frogs will play LSU in Game 10 on Thursday. This, an elimination game, will send one team home and the other team to face Vanderbilt for the right to play in the Best of 3 Series starting on Monday.

Game 13

Florida vs. Virginia

OMAHA, Nebraska--  The Championship Series is set. Virginia and Vanderbilt will battle it out for the NCAA Div. 1 baseball crown beginning Monday as we move from a double-elimination format to a Best of 3 Series.

Sound familiar? Likely, as these same 2 teams met up in the final series last season, with Vandy taking 2 of the 3 to claim the title.

Virginia earned their shot Saturday with a 5-4 victory over a tough Florida Gator team. The game was knotted at 4 until the 7th when Kenny Towns hit a Sac Fly to right field scoring Ernie Clement who led the inning off with a single.

Clement’s single off Gator P Taylor Lewis was followed by a walk, then an intentional walk. That earned run proved to be the difference in the contest making Lewis the pitcher of record for Florida.

The Gators used 4 pitchers throughout the game with Starter Dane Dunning working the majority with 4.2 IP and throwing a total of 60 pitches, 40 for strikes.

FINAL:  Virginia 5     Florida 4
